A John Waters Christmas

by Chris Murray on December 17, 2010

Last night I went to The Birchmere in Alexandria, Virginia to see our friend, legendary film director John Waters, perform his witty and very funny Christmas show. I went last year as well. It was the final show of John’s Christmas tour, and he had the audience laughing from the moment he stepped on stage to the end of the show. I went to visit with him in the dressing room after his performance and gave him a signed copy of Elvis 1956, the catalog for the current exhibition of Alfred Wertheimer’s photographs of Elvis Presley at the National Portrait Gallery. John loves Wertheimer’s photographs of Presley. John has visited Govinda Gallery on a number of occasions to see his good friend Greg Gorman’s exhibitions as well as one of Chris Makos’ Govinda exhibitions.

Of course, while reading an article in the N.Y. Times about rock photography I stumbled here. Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year Merl.
Is there a group show in the offing? I’d love to be included.
