It was a wonderful launch last week for Carlotta Hester’s exhibition The Pure Drop featuring her drawings of Irish musicians, singers, and dancers. Monday evening Ambassador Michael Collins and Marie Collins hosted at their Washington residence a presentation and reception for Hester and her drawings. Before the presentation and discussion Sami Suplee, Emily Nice, and Patrick Armstrong, two fiddle players and a flute player, set the perfect mood with some terrific traditional Irish tunes. After the program the doors to the garden were opened and everyone enjoyed the warm hospitality of the Ambassador and his wife. Then, on a beautiful Friday evening Hester’s exhibition opened at Govinda Gallery. It was an exciting night and everyone was delighted with performances by Hope, Sarah, Martha, and Stephen Gallagher, four Irish American step-dancers. Here are some photographs from Hester’s launch and a short but lively video of the Irish step-dancers on opening night.
