The Strypes

by Chris Murray on August 27, 2013

I saw some great art and music this summer. The Strypes are one of the coolest rock and roll bands on the rise. I was in Cavan town in Ireland this July, where the Strypes hail from, and was invited to the filming of the video ‘What A Shame’ for their first album Snapshot, being released on September 9th.

Irish film maker Finn Keenan directed the video and created a brilliant set for the band.

Great fans of the blues, classic British rock and roll, and Bob Dylan, among others, the band was recently discovered by Elton John and have signed to Mercury Records.

The covers for The Strypes debut EP and their new album Snapshot feature photographs by British photographer Jill Furmanovsky, who was an important part of the first Govinda Gallery exhibition in Havana at Fototeca de Cuba, called La Revolucion Del Rock & Roll in May of 2002 .
